Note from the CHillKids.com Editor:
Brevard is known for its beautiful, and extraordinarily rare WHITE
SQUIRRELS! We'll blog about this soon; we're going to take a trip
there to see if we can spot one and take some photos. More soon ...
From the website: Get Ready To Go Nuts! The
6th Annual White Squirrel Festival will be here before you know it! This
year's dates are Saturday and Sunday May 29th & 30th, 2010 in downtown
Brevard, North Carolina. The Southeast Tourism Society has chosen the White
Squirrel Festival and the Squirrel Box Derby as a Top 20 Event for the month
of May 2010! This year's event promises to be even bigger and better
than ever, considering we had 25,000 attendance in 2008 ? Jupiter Coyote
headlines on Saturday night and Steep Canyon Rangers on Sunday night! The
third running of the hugely popular Squirrel Box Derby will happen again...
a derby race down jailhouse hill in downtown Brevard. Also back this year is
the Annual 5K/10K White Squirrel Race sponsored by The Rotary Club of
Brevard. So there's something for everyone. Over sixteen musical acts over
two days and it's all free! Find out why the White Squirrel Festival was
voted "Best Spring Music Festival in Western North Carolina" in a reader
news poll conducted by the Asheville Citizen Times. Invite your friends,
relatives, and any other critters you can round up. This will be a fun
weekend!
