2009 LEGOPalooza at Morehead Planetarium

Space stations, Trains, Robots, Castles, and Much more !! Returning for its fifth year, this popular exhibit features displays of hundreds of custom LEGO models, created by members of the NC LEGO Users Group.

On Saturday January 31st and Sunday February 1st, NCLUG and NCLTC will exhibit
at the 5th annual LEGOPalooza at the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina. Free (no admission charge.)

Groundhog Day Event at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Watch Groundhog Sir Walter Wally emerge from his winter home.  If he sees his shadow, we'll have another six weeks of winter! Learn about groundhogs and hibernation, meet live animals, and discover how they make it through the winter. Free.  Participants in Groundhog Day 2007 can download a free updated Groundhog Day kit that includes ideas for activities about weather, groundhogs, shadows, and more; a Weather Watch form to report predictions to the Museum; a sample press release for local media coverage; and an entry form for an all-expenses-paid trip to the Museum, including a behind-the-scenes tour.

Revolutionary War Living History Day / on the grounds of the Alexander Dickson House (ca1790), 150 E. King St., Hillsborough, NC.

See regiments of British soldiers, Loyalist troops and camp followers as they set up camp on the grounds of the Alexander Dickson House/Orange County Visitors Center.  British and Continental re-enactors will demonstrate camp life during the Revolutionary War. This year’s event commemorates the 225th anniversary of General Cornwallis’ encampment in Hillsborough in February 1781. Events include marching drills, musket-firing demonstrations, open-flame cooking, and guided tours of Hillsborough’s colonial and Revolutionary sites.
