CHillKids.com
was established in 2005 by Kate L., a Chapel Hill/Carrboro mother of five
children who moved to Chapel Hill from Alexandria, Virginia (Washington, DC
area) in 2003. Kate is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A.) and
also a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.) She practiced
law in Washington, DC (Georgetown) for 7 years before leaving to spend more time
with her young children. In her own words, here is the story behind
www.CHillKids.com:
When my husband suggested that we move to
Chapel Hill, (because he had lived in the area after he graduated from
college and thought it would be a great place to raise kids), I kept asking
him what in particular about Chapel Hill made it such a great place for
families? He didn't have any specific reasons to offer; it was just his
strong impression based on living in the Chapel Hill area before he was even
married and had kids.
Before moving to Chapel Hill we visited
numerous times and I shared his impression that this is a great place to
raise kids, but without any specific reasons. When we moved to Chapel
Hill in 2003 with our infant, 2 year old and 3 year old (there were only 3
back then!) we immediately began researching and finding child-friendly
places and events, and accumulating lots of information and hands-on
experience about the countless wonderful, fun things to do and places to go
and see in the North Carolina Triangle. Now we can rattle off hundreds
of reasons why we LOVE the Chapel Hill - Carrboro - Durham - Hillsborough -
Chatham County - Triangle area!
In 2005, I decided to compile all of this
wonderful information by creating
www.CHillKids.com, so that other families could more easily discover in
one convenient online guide the wonderful things that make the Triangle such
a great place for families.
Fast forward to 2011, we are working on
re-designing and updating our guides, as well as adding many new fun
features, including blog features and lots more. Stay tuned and visit
